Crashing the Quarter (Tuesday Tune)

In honor of Dave Matthews playing thru the pouring rain this past Sunday at New Orleans Jazzfest I thought I would make him my Tuesday Tune.

How amazing are those two pictures of Dave! Such a trooper singing thru the rain. Looks like he was having a blast. From what I understand the people at the back of the show were having a mud party during "Ants are Marching". Not my idea of fun but to each their own!

On official countdown

So I am on official countdown to see this guy! Friday afternoon I plan on rocking out to Adam Levine and Maroon 5 at Jazzfest in NOLA. Don't think I haven't put it all out there in the world to try and meet him. So far no luck! Still have my fingers crossed.

Adam Levine my pretend boyfriend.

Other than that I feel like I spent my weekend at THE BOX, which is a good thing. I love LSU baseball. They were playing South Carolina this weekend. LSU is number 2 in the country and USCe is number 10. Well, South Carolina had our number this weekend. They won the rubber match today. I'm not going to complain because I had excellent seats and I got to meet Keke Mingo, LSU Defensive End that was selected #6 in the NFL draft this past Thursday by the Cleveland Browns!

Alex Box and the Intimadator!

The baseball team trying to do the football sway.

Sunday seats behind the catcher.

My friend Renee' made it in from Houston. So good to hangout.

Slightly blurry, but this is Keke Mingo!

A week in the life

So sorry I have been MIA this week. Work conference kills all time to post anything! But here is a look at what has been going on since Saturday.

Ha! Ha! I think Whitney Cummings is one of the funniest people I follow on Insta

This is before the color run. Our mission because we were going to the spring game after was not to get color in our hair.

Yep I braved taking my phone out to take pics during the run.

Accidental shadow pic that I am in love with.

After the race. yep barely touched. The purple guy caught me when I was taking the shadow pic.

LSU Spring Game from the Stadium Club. Yep it's the way to go, food and booze. Oh and shade!

I think this is my boy Hayden Rettig. He kind of ended up on his ass most of the time.

Went to an art walk last night. This statue was so creepy! His eyes followed you.

Totally want to try this some day! Hopefully at the beach because let me tell you no one wants to fall in the LSU lakes.

This is Blair and she can climb a rope!

Menus at the new Mexican restaurant. So fun!

I ordered Nachos not food for a week!

Our waitress with all the boys credit cards. We play credit card roulette! How do you roll?

Such a Klutz

So I have been trying to get back in my workout routine and so far this week I have been pretty good. I've made it to my SPX (Pilates on the Megaformer) class three times and I have run 3 miles three times this week. I'd say that is pretty good. I'm trying to makeup for what I know isn't going to happen next week. I have a work conference all week next week where I have to be at work for 6 AM and probably won't be done till around 11 PM each day. Not sure when I am going to find time to workout but I will do it, just maybe not as much as I should. Food next week will be a problem because I basically have to stay onsite and that means eating what is provided to me.

So I thought you guys would get a kick out of how much of a klutz I am and how I seriously think I am on my own version of the Truman Show (you know that movie with Jim Carey where they are following him around with cameras and everything is fake. Made up by the producers). Or maybe my own version of Punked and no one has jumped out yet yelling Punked!

Last night I went to Pilates to get my workout on. See example of the machine we workout on below. Yep, looks like a torture device! Literally almost all the parts of the machine move in some way so you have to be careful not to pull or push something while you are performing a move or you will jack something up. If you know me you know that is an absolutely stupid request to make! I have a hard time not doing what I am not supposed to do. Not because I am a rebel but because I am a klutz! Remind me to tell you a story about how I embarrassed myself in front of the entire LSU baseball team when I was in college (this baseball team included at least 4 now major league players). I'll save that for another day. You only get to laugh at me once today.

Anyway, I almost fell and busted my teeth 3 times last night. I need to warn my dentist that I may be calling her a couple of times a week at the rate I'm going! Twice last night we were performing moves on the front of the machine (area closest to you in the picture. Away from the mirror.) You see those handle bars? Well they shift and move. I was on the moving bed holding onto the handle bars and they kept popping out causing me to almost fall. They must have oiled the handles or something because I had a hard time keeping them steady and they aren't usually that easy to move. This all happened at the beginning of the workout so I had anxiety for the rest of the workout.

The last piece of klutziness happened towards the end of class. So there are two platforms on the bed that don't move and the middle is a moving carriage. We were all performing a move where our left leg was on the stable platform and our right leg was on the moving carriage. To stabilize our self we were supposed to hold onto the red handles (you can see them tucked in the front in the picture below). So here I am in squat position, holding onto the red handle, using the red handle to stabilize myself. So the move is sit in squat position and push the carriage out with your leg as far as you can go. It works your thigh muscles. Burns!!!!! Anyway, I was fully extended holding onto the handle when I don't know how the handle came off the rope and I was flailing around like the damn coyote that falls off the cliff after chasing around the roadrunner! I am sure it was a sight to see but I was on the end and everyone was facing the window so I am the only one that saw the whole thing go down! See I knew I picked the end bed for a reason! The only reason the instructor knew something was up was because I was cursing and there was a thud from me jumping off the carriage. I really thought I was going to fall and break my teeth. See I told you I needed to keep my dentist on speed dial (it's OK I was in her wedding).   Anyway, after that I just reattached the handle and finished my workout. If that isn't a enough to make you quit I don't know what is! But I won't quit. I haven't lost any weight but that damn torture device has helped me lose to dress sizes in inches so I will keep at it.

Megaformer at Bodyfactory Baton Rouge
So this weekend I am really pumped! A few of my friends and I are doing the Color Run! Can't wait to be covered in Color. I have this friend who hates to get dirty and she is doing the run with us and I can't wait to see how this works out for her.

I went to Zoe's to grab a bite to eat this week and when I clicked on their app and this is what popped up! Who knew Zoe's had daily Inspiration!? Hope you guys enjoy your weekend!

Girl Crush, J. Law edition

So Time Magazine has come out with it's 100 most influential people in the world. Well, my favorite girl crush of the moment made the list. J. Law is one of my favorites. She just seems so real and self-depreciating. Someone you would want to hang out with, and take road trips with. Jodie Foster hit the nail on the head with her description of Jennifer. Here you go!

Jennifer Lawrence, Time Magazine

You’ll remember where you were when you first felt it, how you were stuck to one spot like a small animal considering its end. The Jennifer Lawrence Stare. It cuts a searing swath in your gut. A reckoning. I remember going to the cutting rooms of Winter’s Bone. I thought, Sure, this girl can act. But, man, this girl can also just be. All of those painful secrets in her face, the feeling that there’s some terrible past that’s left impossibly angled bone and weariness in its wake. She’s worn from the pain of living — something none of her characters would ever have the energy to articulate. It’s just part of her, like skin and muscle. The good news is that Jen, her good-humored, ballsy, free-spirited alter ego with the husky voice and a propensity for junk food … Jen, the spritely tomboy from Kentucky — that Jen’s got it together. A hoot. A gem. A gem with a killer stare.

Falling in Love

I believe falling in love with a city is just as exciting as falling in love with a person. Your senses become engaged and you simply feel more alive...

Paris
I took this picture in Paris a couple of years ago and it has ruined me forever. If I ever find a man that wants to marry me I think I will have to take my pictures in the garden of the Louvre like this gorgeous couple. They were the cutest thing and I was so happy to stumble upon them.

The minute I stepped off the plane in Paris I knew I would hold a lifetime love affair with the city. Every where I turned was magic. Each corner of this city holds a piece of my heart and I can't wait till the day I am reunited with my love.

Do you feel that way about a city?

Tuesday Tune

Y'all I have such a girl crush on Anna Kendrick and I just love the song Cups she preformed in Pitch Perfect. Well she made a music video and I couldn't help but share. Enjoy! It's super cute.

Oh and I am super excited I'm pretty sure they are making a Pitch Perfect 2! At least that is the buzz from my friends that worked on the last movie here in BR. Should start filming soon.

Weekend Rewind

Good Morning! Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday. Here's a little weekend recap for those of you that don't follow me on instagram.

Yep it's this lovely selfie I took mid 5k on Sat. Was running for the donuts!

See donuts! I totally turn into Homer Simpson when donuts are involved but because I am watching my calories I only had one. My clean eating group lead was not impressed!

Headed to the Farmers Market downtown and had to stop and admire the pretty flowers!

I love strawberries! I had to restrain myself from buying all of these! The only thing I love more is peaches.

Stopped at Magpie Cafe and got some green juice and a sandwich. This stuff may look gross but it taste so good!

Had a coffee too! Ran into multiple friends which made my coffee that much more enjoyable.

Went see a friend in his very first play! He was so good and the play was really funny!

Sometimes the grocery store will surprise you!

Did I mention my boyfriend won the MASTERS! Yep Adam Scott! I have adored this man for years! So handsome and I know that green jacket will never look better.

Ended my weekend with this machine!

First 5K

So this morning I ran my first 5K. I'm so excited! I set a goal of making all the way thru without walking and I did it! Next year I will set a time goal and meet that. This year I joked around saying I was running for the donuts. I started off the race with a friend but she is a fairly new runner so I was keeping a super slow pace with her. Once I hit the first time clock I realized I would have to ditch her and run faster. I was running a 13+ minute mile and I know I can run faster than that so I turned on the jets. Ha! Well as fast as my little legs would pump for a little bit to makeup time. Seriously for a while ladies pushing strollers were going faster than me! And y'all there were a couple of hills no fun! Especially the one at the end. My legs were not happy. People were probably wondering what is this girl doing because I was literally taking pics with my cell phone the whole way thru. I knew I wasn't going to win any races so I happily took it all in and documented it!

Walk to the race. How gorgeous is this day!?

Middle of the pack. Waiting for it to thin out!

The globetrotters handing out water.

5000 chins! Totally took this mid run! People prob thought I was crazy.

Batman and Robin.

I think that's my shoe.

Ask him how to gain weight.

Motivation! I only had 1 after the race.

All done!

Running for the donuts at the end!

www.fatboy5k.com
I'm running my first ever 5k tomorrow and I'm super nervous. I was supposed to run with a coworker and his wife but they ended up taking a last minute trip to New York. Can't blame him I would have done the same thing given the opportunity. So now I am running my first 5k all alone. I'm sure I will know a few people but it really daunting to drive up there and have no one to even think about talking to. I am sure I will be fine I keep thinking about the donuts and beer at the end! Ha!

I say this is my first race because I don't count the Crescent City Classic I ran a few years ago. My friends talked me into it saying there was food at the end and I said OK! They failed to tell me it was a 10K! So I ran part of the way feeling like a failure because my 6 month pregnant friend was running with me and schooling me! So I ended up not running and walking the rest of the way which was an adventure in itself! I walked with people handing out jello shots, with the men in kilts handing out carnations, and even a few drag queens. It was fun till I lost all those people and my iPod ran out of juice!!! Needless to say I was not amused!

Are we catching a trend with me and races? Food! What there is food and booze at the end? Sure I'll do it! The Fat Boy is perfect for me since they give me donuts at the end. Ha! It's a really funny race with categories for all sizes! My favorite category is the Clydesdale's (men over 250 lbs). Pretty sure I run like a Clydesdale. Clomp, Clomp, Clomp! Anyway, wish me luck tomorrow! I'm going to need it.

Side note I was looking up my race number and low and behold what do I see like ten spots under me but my ex's name and his wife's. That might make me run faster or at least put on makeup. It's never fun running into those two! Hopefully there will be so many people there I won't. K, enough with the mini whining party!

Changes

Travel changes me. The person I always come back as isn't the person I go as.

Sorry guys this picture isn't mine. I saved it off of Tumblr a long time ago so I am clueless to who took it. I do know it was taken in Paris hence the locks of love.

Saving for Jamaica

So I just love Pinterest because you can get so many great ideas there. It's where I found this neat idea to help me pay for Jamaica. You see one of my best friends just got engaged but she decided to get married in Jamaica. Of course I want to go but I had to find a way to save the cash. Enter Pinterest and all the crazy ideas I get there.

I picked up this 52 Week Money Challenge and I have been donating to my little Mason Jar ever since! It really works but I switch up the weeks going back and forth between the end of the month to the beginning of the month. I don't want to get stuck having to contribute $200 in November and December! But it really is a great idea. And when I get random extra cash I donate it to the Jamaica fund! This way I'll get to see my friend get married and have a kick ass vacation to go along with it. And I've never been to Jamaica. This fits right into my savings and weight loss plans! Be hot by Feb and have enough money to stay for a few days beyond the wedding.
